Last night the hubby and I watched a Swedish program called Spårlost. It is a program which help people find family members or loved ones. This particular episode helped a Korean adoptee find her birth parent's in Korea. It was really touching and we both sobbed throughout the whole program. It was touching how the family regretted giving her up and were extremely sorry for what they have done. It was very hard for her to understand that because of the cultural difference, and her not knowing that abandoning a child for adoption is taboo and extremely shameful for that child. He/she is considered low-class and never suitable for a proper family when they marry or move up in society.
Now my hubby is more interested in finding his birth parents, though it may be almost impossible since he was abandoned and has no original identity. We are looking though some networks that can help him, although it seems the best way is to apply to one of these TV shows. They even have Korean shows which help find missing people. It is really hard to decide to participate in these shows since privacy is lost and you have to set up many of the scenes for the viewing pleasure.
Well, we still love this show, and hope one day we can take our first trip to Korea together.
