6 years of Bliss

Monday was our 6th year wedding anniversary and we both completely forgot about it!

We usually keep it low key and just try to have a kid-free lunch together or something. But this year, we forgot and did nothing. Luckily, Kim's sisters were here for dinner, so at least it wasn't a mundane evening. Plus, Kim was home for dinner. That in itself is a rare thing.

I am counting my blessings.

I am in.

Yesterday I picked the boys up from daycare, and I bumped into a fellow mom, who I usually have a brief "hello, how are you?" conversation. I was lucky enough to be asked to come and join her and another mother for lunch at the local museum with the kids.

We chatted and asked the usual questions. I was the new subject, so they gave me a pretty thorough back around check. =) They were very pleasant and I actually found them pretty cool, so I invited them over for a BBQ this weekend. So if this party is a success, I will be IN the mommy crowd. Morgan will then have friends for play-dates, and I will have Mommy-friends to meet for coffee.

So much pressure! haha. It feels like entering High School all over again, but worse, since I represent me, my kids, and my food! hahahahahahaha

Ticks and Shots

While BBQing on Monday, we found a tick in Elliot's armpit area.
We have a little "forest" area behind our backyard, and through those trees is the playground. The kids usually go through there, instead of walking by the side of the road. I am not sure if they got it there, but he managed to find trouble. Or rather, trouble finds Elliot.

Thank God Kim's sister was there, she put some olive oil on the tick and used tweezers to take it off. The wound doesn't look infected, so hopefully he won't develop lyme disease.

The day after we went to the local clinic and got the first of three vaccination shots. It was expensive (for swedes, considering health care is free); costing $30 a head. I couldn't get the shot because I am still breastfeeding, so I have to keep a sharp eye out for those ticks. It is really common here to get them.

Master Splinter 2

Of course after our Splinter escapade, the following day Elliot got another splinter. But this time in his finger. This time it was less screaming, and much faster. I keep wondering how he manages to hurt himself all the time.

A few days after the fact, the splinter wound in his feet is slightly infected so I had to soak the wound in rubbing alcohol. It wasn't easy keeping him off his feet for more than an hour.
